without comments

It’s midnight.  WE finally got a room assignment — 750 bed 10 — he’s back in another intensive care unit — the Coronary Icu.

No idea how long.

Back to restrcted visiting hours — but dont know what they are yet.

One step at a time.

Back In Hospital

with one comment

Too much celebrating too soon I guess.

Dad is back in hospital.  I wish I could tell you why.

I had left the Rehab to get some supplies after spending most of the day with him and before I could get back the Rehab Dr. called to ask questions.  After a long conversation we decided to get him back to Toledo Hospital. He’s been here since 6, it’s 9:30 now.  He is being admitted.

The original “complaint” is altered consciousness, and after a CT scan and numerous tests there are no clear signs of stroke but it is as off he’s checked out.  This after a number of refusals this week to do, help, try, and after being unable to recognize family member names, his OWN name ( getting first and last name confused and then being unable to remember either.

All we can do is wait and see what happens.

Prayers are welcome, PLeas.

Busy Place!

without comments

Holy Mackerel!

We must have done our prelim visit at the wrong time!

On a weekday morning about mid morning this place is HOPPING!  Lots of people coming and going!!!!!!!

There had to be 20-30 people in the PT room all doing their own exercises, some with help, others not, but workin’ away like crazy….. GREAT TO OBSERVE — prolly not so great to be feeling if  you are the one doing it, but they are definately working on getting better.  I hope dad can take some encouragement from others when he can get that far.

Dad’s roomy is Clarence,  — age 95 but spry and perky.  His wife and DIL seem to spend some time with him.  He’s had 4 major surgeries since november.  Broken hip that has not been healing and finally a hip replacement.  Not much use of one arm — broken shoulder about 2 yrs ago.

Evaluation Day

without comments

Today is evaluation day.  Two of the three therapists have been in, and he’s sleeping through as much of it as he can.  Really tired.

PT & OT have both just left.  Seem like nice ladies.  Jessi & Karen — are the evaluators — may or may not be the ones to work with him each day …  Took about 40 minutes to evaluate and work him a bit.

Not overly cooperative about trying to stand, but that is partly due to him having waited for a pain-killer which I had asked for not long before the therapists arrived.  They had him sitting, but didn’t get any further than that.

Really tired, last two days tired him out a lot.

Not sure how much is being tired but even though he knew his first name, he did not respond about his last name. Had his glasses on to see if he could tell the time on the large numeral wall clock and writing on a greeting card and he didn’t seem to be able to focus on the wall clock and only one out of 5 words on the greeting card.  But then we really don’t know WHAT his visual acuity had been just before the surgery either.

Day by day.  Day by day.  Day by day.
